About the Journal

BRIEF BACKGROUND

The International Journal of Cardiovascular Sciences (IJCS) was established in 2015, succeeding its predecessors: Revista da SOCERJ and Revista Brasileira de Cardiologia, launched in 1998 and 2010, respectively. Available in electronic format and in English, it is indexed in major databases, and all published scientific contributions undergo peer review by members of the Editorial Board and Review Panel, selected from among the most prominent researchers in Brazil and abroad. Manuscripts are accepted based on their relevance and originality, scientific accuracy, and the significance of their contribution to the advancement of science.

OPEN ACCESS

This journal follows the Open Access model, allowing unrestricted virtual access (including financial access) to all scientific texts published by the journal.

Open Access is the condition in which the copyright holder of an academic work grants usage rights to third parties through an open license (Creative Commons Attribution, CC-BY), allowing immediate free access to the work and authorizing any user to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, crawl them for indexing, pass them as data to software, or use them for any other lawful purpose.

OPEN SCIENCE COMPLIANCE

The term open science refers to a model of scientific practice aligned with digital evolution, which advocates for making information available in networks, in contrast to the closed research model of traditional laboratories.

Open science practices involve the publication of research data, acceleration of editorial and communication processes through continuous article publication and the adoption of preprints, increased transparency in peer review and communication workflows, and the pursuit of broader systems for evaluating articles and journals.

Our editorial policy adheres to the principles of Open Science in its research communication practices, and IJCS follows the Gold Open Science model.

The corresponding author, or the first author of the article, must declare their compliance with Open Science in the Mandatory Publication Form, in accordance with the Open Science Compliance Form.

ETHICS IN PUBLICATION

IJCS follows the standards and ethical guidelines for responsible scientific communication as established by the following national and international institutions: Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), Council of Science Editors (CSE), Equator Network, International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), and the SciELO Guide to Good Practices for Strengthening Ethics in Scientific Publishing.

Please refer to the Ethics Policy published on the journal’s website.
